This story could not have been written without my friend Astrid Ferszt. She is responsible for this story in more ways then one. It was she who re-introduced me to Star Trek in my 'adulthood' and made a 'Trekkie' out of me. Opened my eyes so to speak. The long evenings watching, and discussing trek and criticising Star Trek novels led directly to this one being written. It is now finished ( at least Part 1) even though I am not yet satisfied with it. Astrid also helped create many of the events in this story, made sure I stayed true to the characters and edited my English. I want to also thank my father, for his part in editing and continuing support while I wrote this - even though he is not a science fiction fan.
